Your LLC approval is a milestone, but the business still needs an operating system. The next phase is about documents, money, responsibilities and customers. Use this checklist to turn a formation confirmation into a practical launch plan.
1. Review and store the company records
Check names, addresses and other recorded details. Keep the approved formation documents, operating agreement and service agreements in a secure folder. Decide who maintains the records and who can access them. Give files understandable names so you can answer future requests without searching through old messages.
2. Confirm the EIN stage
Check whether the EIN application has been submitted and keep the confirmation when it arrives. If something is outstanding, record the next action and responsible person. Avoid treating an order receipt from a service provider as proof that the IRS has issued the number.
3. Organize business banking and bookkeeping
Check the selected provider's requirements and prepare accurate company information. Once an account is approved, establish a consistent process for recording business transactions. Keep receipts, invoices and statements organized, and document money contributed by or paid to owners.
A practical monthly routine is to collect statements, match receipts to transactions and flag questions for your bookkeeper. Addressing missing information regularly is easier than reconstructing an entire year from memory. IRS Publication 583 provides guidance on starting a business and maintaining records.
4. Arrange a compliance review
Ask a qualified tax professional which federal, state and home-country requirements apply to the ownership and activities of your LLC. No revenue does not automatically mean no filing obligations. A foreign-owned US disregarded entity with reportable transactions can have Form 5472 obligations, generally filed with a pro forma Form 1120 under the IRS instructions.
Also check current beneficial ownership rules rather than copying an old checklist. FinCEN currently exempts US-created entities from its BOI reporting requirement. That exemption does not remove separate bank identity checks or tax reporting duties. Recheck the official guidance when making compliance decisions.
5. Create a renewal calendar
List state deadlines, registered-agent renewals, address subscriptions and professional filing dates relevant to your business. Record the provider, expected cost and the person responsible. Review notices carefully so you can distinguish official requirements from optional commercial solicitations.
6. Build the website customers need
Launch with a clear explanation of your offer, the audience you serve, contact information and the next step for a potential customer. A service business may prioritize a quote form; an online store needs accurate product information and a tested purchasing process.
Use a professional domain and keep information consistent across your website, invoices and account applications. Publish helpful articles that answer customer questions, but remember that a website launch does not guarantee search traffic. Useful content and a working customer journey matter more than publishing many empty pages.
7. Test the complete customer journey
- Open the website on a phone and a computer.
- Check service links and contact forms.
- Confirm that inquiries reach the right inbox.
- Test approved payment methods where relevant.
- Check confirmation messages and customer instructions.
Odies Digital LLC can support the formation process and separately create the website that helps the business reach customers. If your LLC is already approved, contact us about the website and remaining setup needs rather than purchasing formation again.
