An LLC and an EIN can be important parts of a business banking application, but they are not a complete approval checklist. The provider must also understand the owners, the company's activities and whether the business meets its eligibility rules.

Company documents are the starting point

Organize your approved formation records and EIN confirmation so the legal name and supporting details are consistent. If there is an error, resolve it through the appropriate process rather than submitting different versions to different providers.

Prepare a short explanation of what you sell, how customers find you and how the company expects to receive and spend money. A description such as “online business” may be too vague to communicate the actual activity. A specific explanation is also useful when writing your website.

Can international founders apply?

Some providers accept eligible US companies owned by non-US residents. For example, Mercury says applicants do not need US citizenship or residency, but the company must meet its requirements, including existing or planned US operations and supported founder locations and industries.

Mercury also distinguishes operating addresses from registered-agent addresses. Its published rules do not accept a registered-agent address as the principal place of business. This is one provider's policy, not a universal rule for every account. Mercury is a fintech company offering banking services through partner banks.

Prepare an application folder

  • Company formation documents and the EIN confirmation.
  • Identification and address evidence requested for relevant owners.
  • A clear description of services or products.
  • Evidence of genuine operations when requested.
  • A consistent website and business contact information.
  • Answers about intended transactions and source of funds.

Use this as an organizational checklist, then follow the selected provider's actual instructions. Do not purchase an address service on the assumption that every provider will accept it.

Build a website that explains the business

A useful business website connects your company name to a real offer. Describe the audience, services, delivery process and how customers can reach you. If you sell online, make product and customer-policy information easy to find. A professional site can make the business easier to understand; it cannot replace eligibility checks.

Odies Digital's web design service can help turn scattered business details into clear pages. That is valuable for customers as well as anyone reviewing the business profile. Use accurate language and genuine examples rather than publishing claims about offices or operations you do not have.

What if the application is not approved?

Review the provider's response and resolve any identified factual issues. Do not alter your residence, business activity or address just to fit an application. Consider another provider only after checking its requirements and whether it supports your actual circumstances.

Get formation support with realistic expectations

Odies Digital's formation service includes business banking consultation within its published offering. The bank or platform makes its own decision. We can help organize the company setup and separately build a website that represents the business clearly, while you retain realistic expectations about third-party approval.
